Now that we are covered by the CIF State Officials Association, we no longer need to carry our own insurance to work CIF games.
However, if you are working other levels, such as youth sports (e.g. Pop Warner, Junior All-American, AYSO, NJB, Little League, etc.), club sports, or college sports, this insurance will not cover you. You will need to have a separate liability insurance policy.
Three options for insurance are the Dragonfly/NFHS Officials Association , National Association of Sports Officials (NASO), and the new CIF Officials Association. All are excellent options with great benefits, including insurance coverage.
- NFHS Officials Association/Dragonfly membership is about $35.00. To sign up for or to get more information on the NFHS Officials Association, go to https://max.dragonflyathletics.com/. Membership to this association includes digital access to the rules and case books for all NFHS sports. For an additional $10.00, you can sign up for the NFHS Network to watch live and on-demand broadcasts of NFHS contests in all sports from around the country.
- NASO is the world’s largest organization for sports officials at every level and all sports. NASO membership usually costs $139, but may be available for less if you enter the promotion code M93ABTN on the signup page. I don’t know if the discount code still works, but it’s worth a shot! - CIF Officials Association a new statewide registration and eligibility process for all high school sports officials. Starting June 1, 2026, officials must register through ArbiterSports to begin the process of becoming CIF-eligible. This system streamlines background checks, standardizes qualifications, and simplifies access to cost-effective insurance coverage for CIF games only through a centralized structure.
